advice and advise are sometimes confused. Advice is a noun meaning "helpful information or guidance", as in "She asked her sister's advice on clothes" and "She should seek legal advice". Advise is a verb meaning "to give advice", as in "The career's office will advise you about educational qualifications". It can also mean to "inform", as in "The officer advised the men of the change of plan". It is usually used in a formal or official context. Note that it is wrong to spell advise with a z.
