inapt

inapt and inept are similar in meaning in one sense of inept. Inapt means "inappropriate, unsuitable", as in "The speaker's remarks were totally inapt", "make a few inapt comments on the situation" and "inapt behaviour". Inept can mean much the same as this except that it suggests also clumsiness", as in "embarrassed by his inept remarks". Inept also means "unskilful, clumsy", as in "his inept handling of the situation" and "make an inept attempt at mending the roof".
