liaison, meaning "communication and cooperation", as in "Liaison between departments is essential", is frequently misspelt. Note the i before the s. This is often omitted in error. Note also the i before the s in liaise, which means "to act as a link or go-between", as in "You must liaise with your colleague in the other department".
