rigorous is frequently misspelt. Note the absence of u before the second r. It is unlike rigour in this respect. Rigorous means "severe, strict", as in "the rigorous discipline of the army", "harsh, unpleasant", as in "rigorous weather conditions", and "strict, detailed", as in "with rigorous attention to the small print of the agreement".
