The part of speech often known as a "doing" word. Although this is rather restrictive, since it tends to preclude AUXILIARY VERBS, MODAL VERBS, etc, the verb is the word in a sentence that is most concerned with the action and is usually essential to the structure of the sentence. Verbs "INFLECT" and indicate TENSE, voice, mood, number, number and person. Most of the information on verbs has been placed under related entries.
